DoseLoop guide
A pill tracker app for reminders, history, and inventory
DoseLoop combines pill reminders, dose history, and inventory tracking in one app.
What a pill tracker should actually record
A useful pill tracker answers three questions: did I take this dose, what happened on the days I don't remember, and do I have enough pills left. DoseLoop is built around exactly these three answers — every scheduled pill becomes a dose event with a recorded outcome, a calendar history, and an inventory count that decreases as doses are taken.
| Question | How DoseLoop answers it |
|---|---|
| Did I take this dose? | Each dose stays pending until it is marked taken, skipped, snoozed, or becomes missed |
| What happened last week? | Calendar history shows the outcome of every dose, day by day |
| Do I need a refill? | Inventory counts decrease with each taken dose so low stock is visible early |
Track pills as real dose events
DoseLoop treats every scheduled pill as an event with a clear outcome. A dose can be taken, skipped, snoozed, missed, or manually corrected later. Because a dose can never end without a result, the history reflects what actually happened rather than what the alarm assumed. Reminders keep following up during an adjustable tracking window — see the closed-loop medication reminder guide for how that works.
Review dose history
The calendar history helps users review what actually happened across days and weeks instead of relying on memory. Each day shows every scheduled dose and its outcome, including missed doses, skipped doses, and manual corrections. This makes it easier to notice patterns — for example, evening doses that are missed more often than morning ones — and to answer "did I already take it?" with a record instead of a guess.
Track medication inventory
DoseLoop includes medication inventory tracking so users can see remaining counts and notice when a refill may be needed. Each medication keeps its own count, which decreases as doses are recorded as taken. Instead of discovering an empty bottle at dose time, you can see stock running low days in advance.
Works with real pill schedules
Pills are not always once-a-day. DoseLoop supports daily schedules with multiple times, specific weekdays, on/off cycles, and every-N-days intervals, so one app can track a daily vitamin, a twice-a-day prescription, and a weekly medication side by side. DoseLoop is free on iOS and Android and available in English, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, and Portuguese.
Frequently asked questions
Can DoseLoop track more than one pill at different times?
Yes. Each medication has its own schedule, reminder times, tracking window, and inventory count, and every dose is recorded separately in the calendar history.
Does DoseLoop tell me when to refill?
DoseLoop tracks the remaining count for each medication so low inventory is visible before it runs out. It is a visibility tool — refill decisions and prescriptions remain between you and your pharmacy or clinician.
Can I fix a dose I recorded wrong?
Yes. A dose outcome can be manually corrected later, and the correction is kept in the history.
Important limitation
DoseLoop is a tracking and reminder tool. It does not decide whether you should take, skip, change, or repeat a medication dose. Always follow instructions from your clinician or medication label.
